Space Engine Edge
Space Engine Edge – the on-site server of the Space Engine platform. Your system, kept inside your building.
| Processor (base configuration) | Intel Core i5-6400, 4 cores, 2.70 GHz |
|---|---|
| RAM (base configuration) | 16 GB |
| Configuration | base, scaled up to the project’s needs (e.g. VoIP) |
| Ports | 4× USB 3.0, Ethernet RJ45, HDMI, VGA, RS-232 |
| Power supply | 12 V DC |
| Deployment | single server or Kubernetes cluster |
Full control over keys and data
A dedicated computer running your private copy of the Space Engine server. Permissions, event history and cryptographic keys stay inside your infrastructure.
An isolated private micro-cloud
Runs as an isolated environment (sandbox) or on a dedicated site network, so your building does not depend on a public cloud or its outages.
Open to integration
An HTTP and WebSocket API connects hotel software, building management systems and your own apps. Matter is supported.
How much server does a building need?
A single building does not need a very powerful server. MQTT communication with the Space API is very light: one hub uses about 30 MB of data per month, mostly short keep-alive (heartbeat) messages between the devices and the server. That is why we start from the base configuration and scale it up to the project’s needs, for example when you enable a VoIP system, which may require stronger hardware.
API and integrations
Space Engine exposes a documented API that third-party systems and apps call over HTTP, with real-time events over WebSocket.
- Door control: remote unlocking and locking, live lock status (locked, battery, online) and instant alerts.
- Access rights: users, PIN and one-time codes, cards, fingerprints and faces, with time windows and validity periods.
- Mobile keys: Bluetooth keys, QR codes and time-limited hotel codes, including commands for locks without a network connection.
- History and audit: openings, failed attempts and the status of every request.
- Lifts and intercoms: floor permissions, remote lift calls and SIP intercoms.
- Face terminals: enrolling people, issuing cards, blocking users and passage events.
- Building automation: switches, dimmers, blinds, air conditioning, sensors, meters and circuit breakers, plus scenes and batch commands.
- Maintenance: adding and removing devices at the hub and over-the-air firmware updates.
We share the API documentation (in English) with integration partners on request.
Have your own infrastructure?
Space Engine Edge (on-premise, BYOI) is the same software deployed on servers you own or provide: Kubernetes, Docker or bare metal, Linux recommended.
One platform, several deployment models
Space Engine runs in these models: Cloud (shared SaaS), Cloud (managed private cloud) and Edge (on-premise: appliance or BYOI), which can be combined as Space Engine Edge + Cloud (hybrid, HA/DR). All of them use the same software, API and devices, so you can switch models without replacing devices and keep control of the infrastructure and security procedures on your side.

On the customer’s server. Permissions, event history and cryptographic keys stay in your infrastructure, so the building does not depend on a public cloud.
Yes. The HTTP and WebSocket API (JSON, JWT token authentication) connects hotel systems, building management systems and your own applications. The server also supports Matter.
In the base configuration: an Intel Core i5-6400 processor (4 cores, 2.70 GHz) and 16 GB of RAM. It has 4× USB 3.0, Ethernet RJ45, HDMI, VGA, an RS-232 serial port (DB9) and audio jacks. Power supply: 12 V DC.
Usually, yes. A single building does not need a very powerful server, and the base configuration (Intel Core i5-6400, 16 GB RAM) is the starting point. MQTT communication with the Space API is light: one hub uses about 30 MB of data per month, mostly device heartbeat messages.
When the project includes heavier functions, such as a VoIP system. We then scale up the base configuration to the project’s needs and agree it when designing the deployment.
Yes. The servers can be combined into a Kubernetes cluster that can be expanded or reduced at any time. The cluster is deployed by an engineer following the deployment documentation.
Not as standard. Resilience, such as a second server or a copy in another location, is planned separately to suit the site’s requirements. We agree it when designing the deployment.
